Yeezus might very well be the pinnacle of Yeezy's career. The album in its entirety was sent from the heavens which makes it evident as to why Kanye describes himself as a god. Seriously, Yeezus is the best album ever and if you disagree with me there might just be 'Blood On The Leaves' (totally kidding). Yeezus was released in June of 2013 and I am so impressed with how many songs I like out of the relatively short (ten tracks) album. The album is unorthodox, lewd, and a will leave you a little dumbfounded (croissants are mentioned a lot). Yeezus is genre bending or rather genre blending with some punk, rock, maybe some new wave, and of course hip hop. Having said that, it works. I can't stress enough how much I think the entire album is worth a listen but if you're like me and want to see what you're getting into first, here's a track by track rundown: 1. About Me Everyone misses the old Kanye. Even Kanye misses the old Kanye. Wouldn't it be so Kanye if Kanye could go back to the old Kanye? I love Kanye like Kanye loves Kanye so naturally, this blog is all about Kanye- old and new. Being twenty years old, I can’t truthfully say that I have been with Kanye from the beginning. Having said that, he’s been with me since the beginning. Much to my parent’s dismay, I could recite the lyrics to 2005’s Gold Digger before I could explain to you what a gold digger is. I don’t think I can say that the lyrics inspired eight year old me, but I still loved it nonetheless. 12 years later, life led me from the Washington Metropolitan Area to the University of South Carolina where I am now a sophomore-- and yes, still listening to Kanye. If we’re being honest, I still listen to Gold Digger on a regular basis. My methods of listening to music have drastically changed.
